Job Aids

This job aid functions as a tool to help new nurses recall the steps in the adult patient health interview assessment.

Problem: ​St. Margaret Hospital had an influx of new nurses due to more experienced ones seeking greener pastures. Doctors found that the nurses were not performing Adult Health Assessments properly or thoroughly because of a lack of training or experience. This aspect of nursing could be completed quickly but not enough trainers were available to teach all the nurses in a short time frame.

My role: Instructional Designer, Graphic Designer.​

Solution: Design and develop a job aid that the nurses can see just in time to reduce the number of wrongly diagnosed patients. This eBook is for nurses who need to prepare quickly for an adult health interview assessment. Since patient assessments are important when making a diagnosis for treatment and medication; it is imperative that the correct procedure is carried out.. 

 

An adult health interview assessment ebook and checklist were created using Canva and Google Forms to ensure that the nurses complete all tasks for the Adult Patient Health Assessment, as the Ebook would be used as a job aid and the checklist would keep them accountable and on task. ​

​Lesson Learned: Sometimes, a course is not always necessary, and a simple job aid can suffice. However, creating a job aid requires thorough research. It is not a case of just
